Content Is King

A website with rich content is like candy for search engines. Everyone with a website is (or should be) concerned with how well their site is placed in search engine results. The web is full of information, the majority of web surfers use search engines to find new websites, and 80-90% of them will not look past the first page of results. There are several ways to make your website search engine optimized, most of these ways are inexpensive, and depend on website content geared towards your target market. An article about the many uses of your widget – using common industry terms potential clients would use to search the internet – will improve your position dramatically.

Google can take months to crawl the web and take a snapshot of your pages. What does it take a snapshot of? I am so glad you asked. Some of the things that Google will record are: the file name of your pages (i.e. using_your_widget.html), page title, meta tags, alt tags (how you name the images), and of most of all, the written content on each page. Used effectively, these things can give Google several reasons to rank your site higher when Joe Surfer searches for ‘how to use my widget’. Not only will content improve your search engine results, but when people find this information – and the answers to their questions – you will be viewed as a source of valuable information, which can help turn a web visitor into a client.

Let’s admit it, there is a ton of bad information on the internet, so when your visitor finds a site that answers their questions, they will be impressed. Now that you have your new visitor right where you want them, what keeps them coming back? More content! You can never add new, fresh content to your site too often. It is important to have a website that is easy to update and change and a company blog is a great outlet for continual new content. Once your visitor realizes that you have an active site that provides value they’ll come back. You can also take that same content out to the user, through social media sites such as LinkedIn and Facebook as well as through email. Visitors will sign up for an email newsletter that provides them with valuable information. Your email newsletter is a great way to share new content, and get people to come back to your website.

One more important thing about a content driven website is finding a tool that allows you to add new content yourself, or even update older articles with new information. There are many solutions out there that are perfect for your budget, and are easy to use, so make the most of your web presence and start adding fresh content to your site today!
